We believe there is one God who eternally exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Co-eternal, co-equal, and all deserving of the same praise, honor, and worship. God is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe and everything in it.

Jesus is the second Person of the Trinity. At His incarnation, He was miraculously conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin, taking on a fully human body with a sinless nature, becoming completely human while remaining completely divine at the same time. (John 1:1-3, 14, 18; Matt. 1:16-25; Luke 1:30-35; Philippians 2:5-8). Jesus lived a sinless life, died on a cross to completely atone for the sins of believers, and was raised from the grave after three days to demonstrate His defeat of sin and His victory over the power of death. Christs’ death serves as the only way for a person to become saved. It is only through the substitution of Himself in the sinners’ place that allows an individual to be declared not-guilty before a Holy God. This salvation, which is received by the individual through faith alone in Christ’s finished work on their behalf, is a gracious act of God and is not merited by anyone.

We believe the Holy Spirit is present and active in the world today, serving as the comforter, sealing the believer in their salvation, and empowering them for sanctification. The Holy Spirit leads, guides, teaches, and empowers the believer to walk in the commands of Christ. The transforming of a believer in growth towards Christ-likeness is credited to the power of the Holy Spirit and not the believer.

We believe the Bible is the divinely inspired Word of God, without error, given to man so that we may know and understand the truth of God and His love. In the Bible, we find the truth of God, man, sin, salvation, instructions for the believer’s life, and the reality of the future of all people. We believe the Bible is the final authority in all matters pertaining to life and godliness.

We believe salvation is a free gift from God, provided by Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, and is received through faith alone in Christ alone. It is available to everyone who acknowledges and confesses their sin, desires to turn from it, and trusts in Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. Therefore, salvation is truly a gracious work of God in that Jesus fully atoned for the sins of all who believe, and this atoning work is received by faith alone when one confesses their sin and places their faith in Christ’s finished work on their behalf. The resurrection is the proof of all that Christ is and all that He spoke.

We believe every follower of Christ is commissioned to actively proclaim the good news of the Gospel, and to disciple one another in His word. This commission extends to not only those around them, but also to the unreached peoples of the world. Part of sharing the good news of Jesus Christ is by demonstrating the love of Christ in practical ways that demonstrates the value of all humanity by showing the value of all human life. We believe the gospel is the ultimate truth of God’s love for people.

In the end, those who have placed their faith in Christ will be shown to have been declared righteous by the work of Christ on their behalf, and they will continue eternal life free of sin. Those who have rejected Christs’ work of their behalf will be declared unrighteous and be eternally separated from God in Hell. This is a driving motivator for HMBC to show the love of Christ both practically and doctrinally to the peoples of the world. Finally, the blessed hope of all believers is the bodily return of Christ.
